Bukan Budaya Kita is an attempt to engage with the history of civil disobedience in Malaysia, ranging from the tribal upheavals of the mid 19th century, to the race riots of May 13, 1969, to the more recent Bersih rallies. The phrase 'Bukan budaya kita', or 'not our culture', was the former government's response to mass movement
