‘Canvas On Bitumen’ is a study for and is part of the research process for ‘Bukan Budaya Kita’. Directly translated as ‘Not Our Culture’, which has been the clarion call and mantra of the ruling government in response to the recent surge in street protest and demonstrations in Malaysia.
This project is an audacious attempt to document the complete history and to make a timeline of civil disobedience in Malaysia as a means to banish this bogeyman from our collective social consciousness.
